Disclosure and disclaimer
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting or professional advice of any kind, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold or mine anything. We publish information. What you do with it is your decision and your responsibility. Do your own research and reach your own conclusions.
The author owns BLAKE2b-capable mining hardware, bought speculatively, before it is known whether any BLAKE2b chain will exist or whether that hardware would work on it. That is a real interest in the outcome, and you should read everything here knowing it.
Pretending to neutrality would be the dishonest option. Nobody writing about this fight is neutral, and the useful thing is to say where you stand rather than to imply you are standing nowhere.
If any of that ever changes, it will be stated here first and disclosed at the point it appears, not buried on this page afterward.
cpuminer, the well-known open-source mining software. Different project entirely, no connection, and the similar name is a coincidence of a generic category term. This is a fast-moving and heavily contested subject, and much of what gets reported about it is wrong. We try to work from primary sources and to say plainly when something is unresolved. We will still get things wrong. Figures go stale, sometimes within hours. Verify anything you intend to act on against the primary sources, and please tell us when we are wrong so it can be fixed.
Privacy
If you do not submit the form, we do not collect anything about you that would identify you. If you do submit it, we get your email address and use it for exactly the thing the form said.
Your email address, when you submit the signup form. That is the entirety of what we ask for. We do not ask for your name, and there is no account to create.
Notification emails containing your address live in the author's ordinary email account, which means we may hold your address for longer than Formspree does.
We email you when there is something worth your time, as described on the form. That is all. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers, data brokers or anyone else, and we will not use it for a different purpose without asking you first.
This site sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party trackers, ad pixels, or social widgets. There is no tracking to opt out of because there is none to begin with.
One honest footnote, because a privacy page that hides its own exceptions is worthless. Our host rewrites email addresses on the page and serves a small script to decode them, as anti-scraping protection we did not write and do not control. It is not a tracker and it sets nothing, but it is a script we did not author, so it is named here rather than left unmentioned.
Ask us to delete your address and we will, and we will confirm when it is done. You can also ask what we hold about you, or ask for it to be corrected. There is no unsubscribe treadmill; one message is enough.
Email privacy@cpuminers.com, or simply reply to any email you receive from us. If that address does not display for you, our host has obfuscated it: it is privacy, then the usual symbol, then cpuminers.com.
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and anyone on the list is told before the change affects them.
Terms of use
You are welcome here. Read it, quote it, argue with it, link to it. Do not attack the site or use it to break the law, and do not represent this site as saying something it does not say.
This site is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information is complete, current, or correct, or that the site will be available or uninterrupted.
We link to sites, repositories, vendors and people we do not control and are not responsible for. Their content, accuracy, security, privacy practices and conduct are theirs. A link is a pointer, not a vouch.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from decisions you make based on anything you read here, including loss of funds, loss of data, cost of hardware, or lost profits. Mining hardware can be bought and turn out to be worthless. Chains can fail to activate, stall, reorganize, or die. Money spent on any of this can be lost entirely. Those risks are yours.
Original writing on this site may be quoted and shared with attribution and a link. Third-party names, marks and logos belong to their respective owners and are used only to refer to those things.
These terms may change. The date at the top of the page reflects the last update, and continuing to use the site after that is acceptance of the current version.
